Knitted Wire Mesh with an Environmental Seal

Description

Solid knitted wire mesh or knitted wire mesh over an elastomer core bonded to an elastomeric environmental seal to provide RFI / EMI shielding and a dust/moisture seal. Knitted wire mesh gaskets provide a cost-effective solution to high shielding performance applications in the magnetic and electrical fields RFI/EMI and including EMP.
Knitted wire mesh gasket strip bonded to an elastomeric environmental seal provides RFI / EMI shielding and a dust/moisture seal. The gasket can be made as continuous strip or fabricated into custom shape gaskets. This twin-seal design enables the gasket to be used as a component with and adhesive backing to aid assembly or to used as a permanent fixing method for enclosure door seals. Compression limiters can be incorporated into the gasket to prevent gasket damage during assembly and a choice of wire materials to meet galvanic corrosion compatibility. Knitted wire mesh gaskets provide a cost-effective solution to high shielding performance applications in the magnetic and electrical fields RFI / EMI and including EMP.
Continuous lengths up to 10 metres long. Fabricated gaskets to drawing. Can be fitted with compression limit stops or collars. Easily assembled using the optional self-adhesive backing. A broad range of sizes available. A large range of materials to suit many RFI / EMI / EMP and climatic conditions including NBC (nuclear, biological and chemical). Large fabricated gaskets can be produced economically. UL flame retardant approved materials are also available.

Materials:

  • Monel
  • Tin Plated copper Clad Steel
  • Aluminium
  • Stainless Steel

Applications:

This type of gasket is very suitable where a high level of shielding is required along with an environmental seal. Provides an economic approach to combination RFI / EMI / EMP and environmental sealing.

  • Suitable for gaps with large tolerances
  • Door seals
  • Access panel seals
  • Due to its resiliency and low compression force, ideal for use in situations where repeated opening and closing operations are necessary.
